5 Years in Boston
Jun 23rd, 2009 by Bomb

Being busy with work, the bike and other goings-on I forgot to post about a very important milestone.

June 1, 2009 represented my living in Boston for 5 years…

On June 1, 2004, I moved to Boston and flipped this city upside down - never to be the same again for both of us.  In those 5 years, we’ve seen the Red Sox win their first world series in 86 years and then again in 2007.  I’ve been on a local TV station (for something good).  We had a horrible election and Bush got re-elected.  We’ve been in Iraq and Afghanistan the whole time I’ve lived here.  I’ve worked for the same company for 5 years.  I waited hours in line to get to see President Barack Obama at a Primary event.  I’ve toured the U.S.S. Constitution so many times with friends/family visiting that I have an honorary bunk.

I haven’t kept the love to just Boston.  In 5 years, I’ve traveled to Washington DC, Seattle, Toronto, London, Miami, Switzerland, Italy, passed through Germany (I have the passport stamp to prove it), Omaha, Aspen, Chicago and NYC.  And just recently with the addition of Zeus, I’ve been spread through out the Northeast in 6 states so far.  Which I personally am more proud of for the simple fact that the weather has been horrible but I’ve made the most of every available moment.

I’ve seen some great concerts 5 years in Boston…  To name just a few:  Radiohead, My Morning Jacket, Beck, The Beastie Boys, The White Stripes, Dave Matthews Band, Of Montreal, Cold War Kids, Modest Mouse, Ani Difranco, Supergrass, Rusted Root, Red Hot Chili Peppers.  In July, I have tickets for AC/DC at Gillette Stadium and we’re taking the Harley’s down to Foxboro.  Loud Guitars, Loud Pipes..Watch out..

Countless Red Sox and Celtics Games.. I honestly don’t know how many I’ve been to.  Technically 4 Sox games this year so far although one got rained out on me but I was in the gates, drinking beer friends and paid for it. :-(

Well, here is hoping at least for the next few months it doesn’t rain quite as much in New England.  And we all have a fun Summer 2009…  I know I’ve got a lot lining up.

EDIT 6/30/2009: I was reminded by my Mom that I saw Neil Diamond with my Parents at Fenway last year!  How could I forget that on the list!! ha..  And, with my upcoming July travel I’m not longer going to be going to AC/DC.. Which sucks but is ok..

New Motorcycle
May 10th, 2009 by Bomb

For weeks, I’ve been thinking about getting a motorcycle for the 2009 riding season.  And before that, I’ve thought about having a motorcycle in general for a really long time but never had the opportunity, or the timing wasn’t right, funds weren’t there, etc.  When I was living in VT I took a 3-day motorcycle course and received my license which I of course transferred over when I moved to MA.

On Saturday, after careful deliberation, I bought a 2009 Harley Davidson Cross Bones.  This is a mean, ugly looking bike that has mini-ape hanger handle bars, great saddle seat and an incredible 1500CC engine.  Anything on the bike can be customized so this is really just the starting point.  Want a 2-seat up for passenger? No Problem.  Different handle bars? Sure.  You get the idea.  Parking for this son of a bitch? I’ve lined up really nice garage parking just a block away in my neighborhood in a new luxury apartment building.

Needless to say, I’m going to be doing a LOT of riding this summer throughout New England and New York.  Many of my guy friends have a bike - so I look forward to getting to ride with everyone finally.  And, I am most likely coming home for Americade in Lake George early June so that’ll be a TON of fun.  (Aaron and Sarah are coming to Boston for DMB weekend which is the weekend before so no conflict there).

I’ll post pics of me and the bike and everything when time permits.  Probably be some mobiles on facebook and whatnot.  For now, here is just a picture of it from the Harley site.  I pick up the bike TOMORROW!!  Time to ride!

New Blog Software
Feb 21st, 2009 by Bomb

As you may notice, the Bomb.Times doesn’t quite appear normal..  I’ve updated my blogging software and will be using Wordpress from now on which has a LOT more functionality and cooler things then b2Evolution.

In the coming days, you may see some general theme updates and also all the old content get populated.  The migration didn’t exactly run as smoothly as I would have hoped and I got better stuff to do then mess with this all day.  But we have all the data, images, etc so all is not lost… yet..
